The Cotswolds village of Ilmington whispers its ...
Often called the gateway to the Cotswolds, Burford is a picture-perfect market town whose steep High Street tumbles down the hill to a medieval bridge over the River Windrush.
The street is lined with honey-coloured buildings housing independent shops, antique dealers, delicatessens and cosy tea rooms. Take time to explore the magnificent Church of St John the Baptist, a "wool church" built on the wealth of the medieval wool trade, whose spire can be seen for miles.
Burford has plenty of good places to eat and drink, from traditional coaching inns such as The Lamb Inn to the Huffkins bakery and tea room, a Cotswold institution since 1890.
Just outside the town you'll find the Cotswold Wildlife Park, making Burford an excellent choice for a full day out with the family.
