Nestled on top of an 800ft hill lies the pretty market town of Stow-on-the-Wold – the highest town in the Cotswolds. The town is a junction for many ancient roads including the Roman Fosse Way and so became the perfect place for a market – with the first set up by Henry I in 1107. Nowadays a Farmer’s market is still held on the morning of the second Thursday of the month in the town square. Stow offers a captivating blend of history and charm, including the magnificent St. Edward’s Church, a captivating blend of Norman and Gothic architectural styles, and the ancient market square (complete with stocks!), a testament to the town’s former importance as a centre for trade.

Stow has a plethora of antique shops each brimming with unique finds, along with a wide range of galleries and independent shops selling everything from Cotswold woolens and handcrafted jewelry to locally produced delicacies.

5 miles out of town you can find the Cotswold Farm Park where visitors of all ages can interact with rare breed animals and learn all about farming. It’s a great day out for the children, who can meet over 50 flocks and herds of farm animals and play in the adventure playground.
